Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Shadowfix™ ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a binding legal agreement between you and Shadowridge Systems LLC, an Arkansas limited liability company ("Shadowridge," "we," "us," or "our").


2. Description of Service

Shadowfix is a Windows privacy tool that modifies registry values, service configurations, and scheduled task states to reduce data collection by the Windows operating system. The Service monitors for reversions to these settings and re-applies them automatically.


3. License Grant

Subject to your compliance with these Terms and payment of applicable fees, Shadowridge grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Shadowfix on one (1) Windows machine per active license seat.

Subscription licenses (Monthly, Annual): The license is revocable and remains active only while your subscription is current. It terminates automatically if your subscription lapses or is cancelled.

Lifetime licenses: (Not currently available. Coming soon — this section will be updated prior to availability.)

Trial, Beta, Complimentary, Press, and Reviewer licenses: These licenses are granted at Shadowridge's discretion and may be revoked at any time with or without cause.

4. Anonymous Purchase Model

Shadowfix is designed to be purchased and used without providing personal identity information. We do not require your name, email address, or any personally identifying information to purchase or use the Service. Your license key validates your subscription and is not linked to your identity.

License key storage: Your license key is stored locally in Windows Credential Manager. We store only a one-way cryptographic hash of your key — we cannot recover the plaintext.

Silent license recovery: To protect you from losing access after a reinstall or Credential Manager wipe, Shadowfix uses a hardware fingerprint hash (described in our Privacy Policy) to automatically recover and re-activate your existing license on reinstall. No personal information is involved in this process. See our FAQ for details.

License key recovery assistance: If you have lost your license key and have your Stripe payment receipt, contact us at [email protected] and we may be able to assist. Stripe receipts contain your email address, which will be used solely to locate your license and will not be retained.


5. Subscriptions and Payment

Monthly subscriptions: Billed every 30 days. Your license remains active until the end of the current 30-day period. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled. To cancel, stop your recurring payment through your payment method or Stripe; your license remains active until the end of the current billing period. No refunds are issued for monthly subscriptions.

Annual subscriptions: Billed once per year. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled. If you are not satisfied with the Service, you may request a full refund within 30 days of purchase. After 30 days, no refunds are issued.

Lifetime licenses: (Not currently available. Coming soon — this section will be updated prior to availability.)

Trial licenses: Free for 7 days. One trial per machine. No payment required.

All payments are processed by Stripe. Shadowridge does not store your payment card information. Current pricing is listed at shadowridgesystems.com/pricing. We reserve the right to change pricing for new purchases with 30 days' notice posted on shadowridgesystems.com. Price changes do not affect existing Lifetime licenses or active subscription periods.


6. System Modification Disclaimer

Shadowfix modifies Windows registry values, service configurations, and scheduled task states. You acknowledge these modifications may affect Windows functionality, application compatibility, or system behavior. You are solely responsible for maintaining backups before using the Service. Shadowridge Systems LLC is not liable for any data loss, system instability, or loss of functionality arising from your use of the Service.

If your license is terminated or expires, the Service will cease re-applying patches but will not automatically revert changes already made. You may revert any changes manually from the History tab at any time while the application is accessible.


7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SHADOWRIDGE'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED:

IN NO EVENT SHALL SHADOWRIDGE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR SYSTEM DAMAGE, EVEN IF SHADOWRIDGE HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.


8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. SHADOWRIDGE DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY PARTICULAR WINDOWS UPDATE WILL NOT REVERT YOUR SETTINGS.


9. Updates and Changes to the Service

We reserve the right to update, modify, or discontinue the Service at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

If a software update includes a new license agreement that materially reduces your rights, you are not required to accept it. You may continue using the version of the software you last received under these Terms. Acceptance of an update constitutes acceptance of any accompanying license terms.

Modifications to these Terms do not retroactively alter the rights granted under a Lifetime license at the time of purchase. (Lifetime licenses not currently available.)


10. Seat Management and Reinstallation

Your license seat is bound to your machine via a hardware fingerprint hash. You may rotate your seat up to twice per calendar month from the License tab in Settings, which allows you to transfer your license to a new machine or following a hardware change.

On reinstall, Shadowfix will automatically attempt to recover your existing license using your machine fingerprint. If a valid license is found for your machine, it will be re-activated silently without requiring you to re-enter your license key.


11. Termination

Termination for cause: Shadowridge may suspend or terminate any license immediately and without notice if you: (a) violate any provision of these Terms; (b) tamper with or attempt to circumvent license validation; or (c) use the Service in a manner that damages or threatens the integrity of the Service or other users.

Termination by you:

Upon termination for any reason, the license granted under Section 3 immediately ceases (except as provided above for the end of a paid billing period).


12. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arkansas, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved exclusively in the state courts located in Saline County, Arkansas, or, for matters within federal jurisdiction, the United States District Court for the Western District of Arkansas. You consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.


13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms at shadowridgesystems.com/legal/terms with a new effective date and, for material changes, provide notice within the application. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.


14. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Shadowridge with respect to the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
